I AM… an American New Age Contemporary Instrumentalist Storyteller.

From my friend and producer Will Ackerman - "Kori's music has evolved in its own complexity and richness over the years, but the strength of her artist voice is powerful and singular to unify all of her work as purely her own."

Living with

I live with hearing loss in my left ear.  We found out when I was 5 that I had over 90% hearing loss. I basically have no hearing in my left ear. I was told when I was younger that I would never make it as a musician.. and yet I stand proudly and grateful that I have music in my life. Never tell me I cannot do anything, because baby - I will and prove to the world I can and will conquer!

Throughout my life I have talked with many people that have hearing loss. I was not sure if there were organizations out there that were working to find a cure for hearing loss as well as promote hearing health, until now. One day I decided to research the internet to find such a group and found Hearing Health Foundation. I was so impressed with their mission statement:  Hearing Health Foundation's mission is to prevent and cure hearing loss through groundbreaking research. I am proud to say that a percentage of "Fire in the Rainstorm's" sales go to Hearing Health Foundation to help with their mission by preventing and curing hearing loss with their fine research!

I was recently diagnosed in having Spasmodic Dysphonia - which is a vocal disorder. Each day is different from the next.  I really took for granted being able to speak.  Since I was diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysphonia, I've gone through various stages in my psyche.  I was angry at first, then I was extremely depressed, and finally accepted that I yes, I have this.   I am so grateful for the medical technology nowadays so that I can receive treatment.

Oh? What IS it? From the National Spasmodic Dysphonia Website:  It is a neurological condition that involves "spasms" of the vocal cords causing interruptions in speech and affecting the voice quality. SD can cause the voice to break up or cause a strained or strangled quality.

The bottom line is, I won't allow this to take away my happiness. I deal with it on a daily basis. Is there a cure? No. Is there treatment? Yes!! I receive botox injections into my vocal cords to give me the ability to speak without the spasms. Even though this is annoying, I will stay the course and do my best at what I do, and that is composing, recording music and releasing music.

PEACE IN MUSIC
